Motorcycle Preventative Maintenance

Even if your motorcycle is brand new, it’s important to keep a close eye on its maintenance and upkeep. Staying on top of your model’s preventive care will ensure your motorcycle has a long and happy service life, and that it performs at its best for all the years you have it. Keep a Maintenance Schedule 

Motorcycles require a variety of different maintenance and care tasks to keep them in top shape. However, it can be hard to keep track of all the different chores you need to perform, as some tasks need to be completed based on mileage while others will follow a specific time frame. To ensure you don’t fall behind or accidentally forget an important maintenance service, we recommend keeping a calendar for your motorcycle listing exactly when you’ll need to complete various upkeep tasks. 

Inspect Fluids 

Keeping your motorcycle’s various fluids clean and fresh will do a lot for the service life of your engine! However, there are a lot of different fluids you’ll need to keep track of— including your engine oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, coolant, fork oil, and hydraulic fluid—and they’ll likely need to be changed at different times. To ensure you don’t fall behind, be sure to give each of these fluids a quick inspection for signs of discoloration or debris every 6 months or so and to keep a close record of when each fluid is changed. 

Clean Your Model 

Giving your model a quick scrub every 3 months or so can do a lot to ensure its longevity, as well as prevent future rust and corrosion. To ensure your model is receiving all the benefits of regular cleanings, we recommend applying a coat of wax and polish every 6 months to help better protect your model from the elements.
